The Neverending Social Network

View Samuel Yu's profile on LinkedIn

I told myself to stop doing it. First, it was Flickr. Then I moved on to Smugmug. In the process Ringo became popular among my circle of friends. Then I joined Facebook, even though I was not in college at the time. I joined Linked In a while ago, but only recently have I begun to use it. Then, just for kicks, I went ahead and joined Twitter. At this point, I realized I was in danger of social network overload. But then I stumbled across Good Reads, and I knew I couldn't let this one pass me by. A social networking site for book nerds! Yes, finally my kind of social network! Now, if only someone would invent a social network for social networks..."one ring to rule them all"!!!

New Tech Book for Kids...

Stumbled across this new book this morning. Even though our son is not even two yet, I was already getting anxious about having "the talk" and how we would bring up this subject in a normal way. Now, thanks to Dr. O'Connor and Microsoft, we feel confident in our ability to explain the matter to him in a nonthreatening and easy to understand way. While the book is not available for purchase yet, you can read it online here.

Cabo San Lucas pictures are up!

I took the time to upload and caption photos from our recent trip to Cabo San Lucas. You can see them here. I have come to the recent conclusion that photos that are boring are even more boring without captions. There is already enough boredom in the world so I took it upon myself to caption every single one of my photos. Every single photo. Perhaps by doing this I was able to move the scale on some of my photos from boring to semi-interesting.

Unfortunately, when you take as many photos as I do, editing, posting and captioning takes a lot of time. The sheer amount of photos I take makes the thought of editing and posting and captioning very, very unappealing. Maybe the key is to limit myself to how many photos I can take per event. Then I won't have to worry about all the post-work. Of course, then I might miss out on that one semi-interesting to semi-great shot. Sigh...wonder if this is one of the conundrums that Ansel Adams faced.

Back in the saddle again

Wow, it's been a long time between posts. What has contributed to the delay? Hmm, let's see...oh yes, a baby! We welcomed our son to the world last March. Hard to believe he will soon be two. That and laziness are pretty much my only real excuse.

One of my new year's resolutions is to establish more of a web presence/identity. I now own the rights to samuelyu.com, thank you very much. That site, along with an up-to-date blog will hopefully help me get my name out there more.

That's it for now. Got to ease myself back into this blog business slowly...
